Thanh Thúy returns, Gunma Green Wings achieve a decisive 3-0 victory

On January 4th, within the scope of the Japan National Volleyball Championship (SV League) for the 2025/26 season, Gunma Green Wings had a dramatic encounter with Astemo Rivale Ibaraki. This was considered an important rematch after Gunma Green Wings narrowly lost 2-3 to this opponent in round 14.

The match unfolded with a clear advantage for Gunma Green Wings thanks to their cohesive play and proactive attacking strategies. The home team controlled the game well, effectively countering Astemo Rivale Ibaraki’s attacks while maintaining constant pressure through wing attacks.

As a result, Gunma Green Wings secured a clean 3-0 win. The set scores were 25-20, 25-22, and 25-19, reflecting the blue team's dominance throughout the match.

A major contributor to this victory was Vietnamese volleyball star, Trần Thị Thanh Thúy. After returning to Japan following the SEA Games 33 campaign, the 1997-born hitter reaffirmed her consistent form and key role in the starting lineup.

Thanh Thúy scored a total of 16 points, becoming one of the most effective attackers on the court. Her versatile scoring ability and active back-row defense helped Gunma Green Wings maintain momentum during the opponent’s attempts to close the gap.

This win marked the 14th victory of Gunma Green Wings this season. The result not only allowed the team to avenge their previous loss to Astemo Rivale Ibaraki but also strengthened their position firmly within the top 5 of the SV League standings this season.
