Bích Tuyền has not taken part in any official competitions since the landmark win against Thailand at the second stage of the SEA V.League in August this year.
Vietnamese women's volleyball player Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền recently appeared in a photo alongside Nguyễn Thị Huyền, the Vietnamese athletics legend who has won 13 SEA Games gold medals.
The photo caption read:"My sister and I when we came home together 35(license plate of Ninh Bình province)” posted on Nguyễn Thị Huyền’s official Facebook page, quickly gaining over 1,000 likes and loves. Bích Tuyền, originally from Vĩnh Long, currently plays for LPB Ninh Bình, while Nguyễn Huyền, from Nam Định, has become part of Ninh Bình following the provincial merger earlier this year.
This is also a rare appearance by Bích Tuyền since her decision not to join the Vietnam women's volleyball team for the World Championship held from late August to early September 2025. The personal Facebook account of the player born in 2000 has now been set to private.
The last time Bích Tuyền competed professionally was at the second leg of the 2025 SEA V.League in early August, where she was a standout star helping Vietnam defeat Thailand for the first time in history and claim the championship. Afterwards, she missed the World Championship, SEA Games 33, and only participated in the second phase of this year's National Women's Volleyball Championship in a completely new role: a caretaker.
Whether Bích Tuyền will return to play in the 2026 season remains uncertain, but the above photo might be a positive sign for the Vĩnh Long native’s comeback.
Before missing tournaments over the past four months, Nguyễn Thị Bích Tuyền was one of Vietnam’s top female volleyball players. Especially during 2024 and the first half of 2025 — when captain Trần Thị Thanh Thúy was recovering from a knee injury and not at full strength — Bích Tuyền was the leading hope in the national team’s offense, playing a vital role in Vietnam’s third consecutive AVC Nations Cup title, the bronze medal at the 2024 FIVB Challenger Cup, runner-up at the 2025 VTV Cup, and winning the second leg of the SEA V.League that same year.
