According to the latest release from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), the Vietnam women's national team officially closed out 2025 ranked 28th in the world rankings.
According to the latest announcement from the Federation volleyball world (FIVB), the Vietnam women's team officially ended 2025 holding the 28th position in the global rankings. With only one week left in the competitive year, this is the final standing for the Vietnamese women after a busy year marked by notable achievements in major tournaments.
At the recently concluded 33rd SEA Games in Thailand, the Vietnam women's volleyball team achieved their goal by successfully defending the Silver Medal. Throughout the competition, the team and coaching staff played five matches, securing 4 wins and 1 loss. Convincing victories over Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, and the Philippines led the team to the final.
However, facing the superior strength of the host nation Thailand, Vietnam accepted defeat and took the runner-up position. Notably, since the SEA Games are not part of the FIVB point-accumulating system, the results in Thailand did not affect the team's world ranking.
The current points for the Vietnam women's team stand at 136.75. The last time the team earned points on the global system was in August 2025, after completing their journey at the World Championship.
Specifically in the Asian region, Vietnam women's volleyball holds the 4th position, trailing behind top powerhouses Japan, China, and Thailand. Among them, Japan is the only Asian representative in the world’s top 5; the Thailand team – the 33rd SEA Games champions – currently ranks 18th worldwide.
After fulfilling their mission at the 33rd SEA Games, the team members officially ended their long-term training camp for 2025 and returned to their home clubs.
Currently, the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and coaching staff are starting the evaluation and planning process for the 2026 training schedule. The main goal for the upcoming year is to maintain the world ranking and continue narrowing the gap in skill level with the continent’s leading teams.
