Outside hitter Vi Thị Như Quỳnh is actively training with Medan Falcons, prepared to compete in the Indonesian National Championship. Như Quỳnh’s level has been clearly confirmed. Only one issue remains unresolved.
Born in 2002, Như Quỳnh is among the finest outside hitters in Vietnamese women’s volleyball at present. She has strong physical conditioning, capable of performing effectively in long 5-set matches, possesses powerful spikes, can execute jump serves to disrupt the opponent’s first pass, and currently her ball-handling skills are much more flexible and varied than before.
Như Quỳnh had her first training session with Indonesia’s Medan Falcons. She appeared vigorous and seems fully ready for this new experience at age 23.
Until more than a year ago, Như Quỳnh mainly attacked with powerful but less varied spikes, which limited her unpredictability and made her easier to block against taller opponents across the net.
However, now Như Quỳnh’s attacks are much more varied. She can spike down the line, hit sharp cross-court shots, spike through blocks, use the block to score points, and perform drop shots. This flexibility in her playing style makes her harder to anticipate despite being only 1.75m tall.
