One of Vietnam's leading female volleyball attackers is prepared for her initial international experience in her professional journey.
On December 20th, outside hitter Vi Thị Như Quỳnh arrived in Indonesia to embark on a new chapter in her career. She will don the Medan Falcons jersey in the Indonesian Women's National Volleyball Championship, marking the first time the Nghệ An native will play abroad in her career..
Known for being very energetic and having a great sense of humor, fans can confidently expect Như Quỳnh to quickly adapt to the competitive environment and her new teammates in the "Land of a Thousand Islands." After greeting Medan Falcons supporters in Vietnamese, Vi Quỳnh recently shared her first photos with her new teammates.
The outside hitter born in 2002 looks fresh and vibrant wearing jersey number 16 — the number closely associated with her career. It’s easy to spot one of her two close teammates in this photo, Dell Palomata, the national team middle blocker from the Philippines. These two will be the foreign players for Medan Falcons in the upcoming season.
Medan Falcons, based in Medan city, West Indonesia, currently compete in Proliga — the highest professional volleyball league in the "Land of a Thousand Islands." Last season, the Falcons had a very... forgettable record: 0 wins and 12 losses, winning only 2 sets in total. They finished 7th out of 7 teams overall and were the only club in the league without a single victory.
Therefore, the addition of Như Quỳnh and Palomata is expected to help Falcons improve their ranking in the new season. Besides these two notable foreign players, Falcons also have three Indonesian national team members who recently won the bronze medal at the 33rd SEA Games: setter Yolana Betha Pangestika, libero Sulastri Rahma Aulia, and opposite hitter Pascalina Mahuze.
The head coach of the Indonesian women's national team, Mr. Marcos Sugiyama, is also the leader of this club. Vi Thị Như Quỳnh’s outstanding performance at the 2025 SEA Games surely caught the attention of the Brazilian-Japanese coach.
