Sabalenka began the 2026 season with impressive momentum at the Brisbane International, securing victories over top competitors such as Keys and Muchova to advance to the final. In the championship match against Kostyuk, she triumphed in 78 minutes with a 6-4, 6-3 scoreline. She is now concentrating on the 2026 Australian Open.

During this period, Sabalenka gave an interview to First&Red, where she discussed her views on motherhood. While sharing her dream of becoming a mother, she also disclosed the specific age at which she hopes to have her first child.
Speaking about her youthful dream of becoming a mother, she said, “It has always been my dream, but I understand it’s not easy in reality. I used to think it would be great to have children early—being a young mom means waking up and living in the same rhythm as your child. When I was 18, I thought having a baby at 25 would be quite early in my life. But now I feel that having children around 32 might be best because I’ve always dreamed of a big family.”

She added, “I want to have three to four children, but now I realize that having kids quickly, one after another, is almost impossible. Of course, sometimes we talk about this in the team. But you won’t leave me, right? I already have some kind of plan, maybe just an ideal one, since no one knows how life will unfold. Having a child at 32 sounds good. I’ve also done all the necessary check-ups, and everything is fine.”
In the Brisbane International final, Sabalenka delivered an outstanding performance against Marta Kostyuk, successfully defending her title. Afterwards, during the trophy ceremony, she praised her opponent and expressed hope to meet again in future finals.
“I want to congratulate Marta and her team on an excellent start to the season. I hope we can meet many more times in finals ahead and provide fans with exciting tennis matches,” Sabalenka said.

This victory marked her fifth title in Australia, her second in Brisbane, and the 22nd of her professional career. This achievement moved her ahead of Azarenka in the number of titles among active players, placing her third overall, behind only Serena Williams and Swiatek.
“A few years ago, I finally found a style that suits my touch. I realized some things and changed my playing style,” Sabalenka told reporters. “Now, I’m no longer just an aggressive player. I can approach the net, defend, use slices, and my touch has improved.”

“This has been the direction I’ve been striving for throughout my career—to diversify my game and have multiple options, A, B, and C, during matches. Seeing all these elements start to come together and work well makes me very happy.”(Source: Tennis Home, Author: Spark)
