The first match of this showdown will feature two former WTA Finals champions and longtime rivals,Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff.Swiatek aims to maintain her perfect 3-0 record in this United Cup.

Swiatekis unquestionably the leader of the Polish team, whose dominant singles victories have helped the team reach the semifinals for the fourth consecutive time. Although Gauff lost to Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the group stage, she remains the core strength of the USA’s title defense.

Next,Fritz and Hurkaczwill face off again in a highly anticipated match. In their head-to-head record, Fritz leads 4-2. Since returning from knee surgery, Hurkacz has shown impressive form in this tournament, notably defeating world No. 3 Alexander Zverev in straight sets, creating one of the biggest upsets of the event.

Both teams are firing on all cylinders, and this encounter carries a strong revenge theme: Swiatek and Hurkacz are determined to overturn last year’s loss to the USA and restore their pride.

Belinda Bencicis undoubtedly the key contributor to Switzerland’s progress, maintaining a perfect record in three singles matches and also achieving three consecutive mixed doubles wins alongside partner Jakob Paul, including two match-deciding victories. The 28-year-old star will face Elise Mertens, who holds a 1-0 head-to-head advantage. Bencic understands that the outcome of this semifinal may still hinge on the mixed doubles contest.

“He is now a very strong doubles player,” Bencic praised her partner Paul. “I’ve always known his strength, but his performance on court is even more impressive. He has been a huge help to me. Of course, Stan (Wawrinka) has also provided excellent guidance, and we are all motivated on court.”

Wawrinka, during the Perth legof the tournament, played over 7.5 hours with a 1-2 record. After arriving in Sydney, he chose to rest on Friday. Given the forecast of extreme heat on match day, the start time was moved 30 minutes earlier to 10 a.m. local time. The 40-year-old veteran must be in top form to face Bergs.

“The weather will be hot and humid,” Wawrinka told ATP’s official site in Sydney. “The good news is the venue has a roof, so we won’t be exposed directly to the sun. We expect tough conditions, but the whole team is well prepared. These conditions are fair for both us and Belgium, and it will be a fierce battle.”

Bergsis brimming with confidence after his run to the semifinals, where he defeated world No. 5 Felix Auger-Aliassime and No. 18 Jakob Mensik in straight sets, marking the first time in his career he has beaten back-to-back top-20 players. His impressive 2026 debut could signal the start of a breakthrough season.
