Former world No. 3 marries the son of the Greek Prime Minister

They have been acquainted for five years, and the marriage story was disclosed solely by Kyriakos Mitsotakis, the sitting Greek Prime Minister.

Greece’s top female tennis player - Maria Sakkari recently received joyful news as she got engaged to her longtime boyfriend Konstantinos Mitsotakis, just before heading to Australia to prepare for the 2026 season. This information quickly caught the attention of international media, although Sakkari herself did not officially announce it on social media.

According to sources from Greece, Maria Sakkari and Konstantinos Mitsotakis have been dating for about five years. Notably, Konstantinos is the son of the Greek Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, which has increased public interest in the relationship of the female player born in 1995. The engagement was only revealed during an informal conversation between Prime Minister Mitsotakis and other politicians.

According to the Neos Kosmos, the Prime Minister praised his future daughter-in-law, calling Sakkari "an outstanding young woman," and revealed that the couple’s wedding is planned for 2027. He also humorously mentioned that he is fully ready to become a grandfather in the future.

Throughout their relationship, Maria Sakkari has rarely shared her private life, but whenever she mentioned her boyfriend, she expressed deep appreciation. When their relationship was first made public, the player who reached the Roland Garros 2021 semifinals described Konstantinos as "a very easygoing person."
