The season remained within the top ten from start to finish, with the Big Three still dominating since the new century!

Today is the last day of 2025. Looking back on this year, some newcomers entered the world top ten, while others stayed in the top ten throughout the entire season. So, reviewing the world top ten over the past two decades, who has been the most consistent player? Undoubtedly, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic have been the most stable players over the last twenty years!

Below is a list of the number and names of players who remained in the ATP top 10 for the entire season since 2000.

According to historical data, 2002 was the most volatile year (with only two players consistently in the top ten), Agassi and Hewitt. Agassi was undoubtedly the most stable presence in the early 2000s, maintaining a top ten position for four consecutive years.

In 2003, Federer entered the top ten with the momentum of his first Grand Slam title and stayed there for 13 years, only dropping out in 2016 due to a severe injury.

Nadal made the top ten in 2006 and matched or even exceeded Federer's consistency, remaining for 17 years until 2023, the season before his retirement, when he finally fell out of the top ten.

What about Djokovic? The Serbian star first appeared in the top ten in 2008, staying for nine consecutive years until 2017. However, after winning both Wimbledon and the US Open at the end of 2018, he returned to the top ten in 2019 and has remained there for seven seasons so far.

The most stable period in history was from 2012 to 2015. During the first two seasons, eight players never left the top ten, including the Big Three, Murray, Ferrer, Tsonga, Berdych, and Del Potro. No wonder Tsonga still talks about how strong their generation was in interviews today. The current strength of players like Alcaraz and Sinner is partly thanks to the absence of many dominant rivals.

Recently, a similar stable situation occurred during the 2020 and 2021 seasons, with eight and seven players respectively. The 2020 season was Federer's last full year in the top ten, while Thiem and Zverev remained solid. The new generation included Medvedev, Tsitsipas, and Berrettini, with Rublev joining in the following year.

Among the recent new generation players, Zverev has been the most consistent, staying in the top ten for six out of eight full seasons, mainly affected only by an ankle injury at the French Open. In comparison, Tsitsipas and Medvedev each have four seasons, Rublev three seasons, slightly ahead of Sinner and Fritz with two seasons each.Source: Tennis Home Author: Luo Cheng Qiye
