The final three gold medals in the wheelchair category have been decided! Ji Zhenxu becomes the "Four-Gold Champion" of the Special Olympics tennis competition

On December 4th, at the Hengqin International Tennis Center, the tennis events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th Special Olympics of China reached the last day of competition. The wheelchair category awarded its last three gold medals in men's singles, men's doubles, and women's doubles, all of which were won by the Sichuan team.

The men's singles final was contested between two Sichuan players, with Ji Zhenxu rallying from behind to defeat Du Chao 3:5, 5:3, 4:1. In the bronze medal match, another Sichuan player, Dong Shunjiang, beat Beijing’s Feng Xiaomin 4:1, 4:1. Consequently, Ji Zhenxu, Du Chao, and Dong Shunjiang swept the gold, silver, and bronze medals in men's singles for Sichuan.

The men's doubles final also took place between two pairs from Sichuan, with Dong Shunjiang and Ji Zhenxu defeating Du Chao and Liu Yang 4:0, 5:3. In the bronze medal match, Beijing’s Ding Jinhui and Feng Xiaomin beat Guangdong’s Chen Jinwei and Xie Liulong 4:0, 4:0. Ji Zhenxu won gold in all the events he participated in—men's team, mixed doubles, men's singles, and men's doubles—earning the title of "Four-Gold Champion" at this Special Olympics tennis tournament.

After the match, Ji Zhenxu was very happy and emotional. He said, "I am extremely satisfied with this achievement. The journey has not been easy. I hope that by winning this title, more people will recognize our sport and see the determination and perseverance of wheelchair tennis players. I want to inspire hope in more people’s lives. We can realize our own value, and I believe everyone is capable of achieving it."

In the final round of the women's doubles round-robin, Sichuan’s Li Xiaohui and Wang Ziying defeated Beijing’s Huang Huimin and Ma Ziqian 4:1, 4:1, securing the gold medal with a perfect 3-0 record. The two Beijing pairs, Guo Luoyao / Zhu Zhenzhen and Huang Huimin / Ma Ziqian, took silver and bronze respectively.

At this Special Olympics, both Li Xiaohui and Wang Ziying earned three gold medals each. Besides teaming up to win the women's team and women's doubles gold, Li Xiaohui also partnered with Ji Zhenxu to claim the mixed doubles gold, while Wang Ziying won the women's singles gold.
