Just penalized by FIFA, the Vietnam team loses another top striker

SHB Đà Nẵng Club has confirmed the acquisition of striker Võ Nguyên Hoàng from Đông Á Thanh Hóa.

The situation at Đông Á Thanh Hóa Club is becoming extremely alarming as the Thanh Hoa team has recently received a heavy penalty from FIFA. Specifically, the club is banned from registering new players for three consecutive transfer windows, starting from November 2025.

The cause is reportedly financial disputes involving Brazilian defender Igor Silva. Failure to fully settle payments after his departure led the foreign player to file a complaint, resulting in a strict ruling from the world football governing body.

The financial crisis and prolonged salary arrears have triggered a wave of departures among key players. After coach Choi Won-kwon and former Vietnam national team captain Quế Ngọc Hải parted ways, the next to leave was defender Hoàng Thái Bình. Considered one of the best left-backs in the V-League with a calm and speedy playing style, Thái Bình decided to join the "galaxy" of Ninh Bình FC seeking a more stable destination.

Not stopping there, the young striker Võ Nguyên Hoàng has officially moved to SHB Đà Nẵng. This transfer was quite surprising since the promising U23 Vietnam forward had signed a 5-year long-term contract with Thanh Hóa in 2023.

However, given the mounting difficulties faced by his former club, Nguyên Hoàng’s departure is seen as the best move for his career. Additionally, foreign player Ribamar is also expected to be the next to pack up and leave Thanh Hóa stadium.

This large-scale "brain drain" is putting Thanh Hóa Club in an extremely precarious position for the remainder of the season. Losing numerous key figures from the coaching staff to important players like Quế Ngọc Hải and Hoàng Thái Bình will severely weaken the team’s strength. Unless the financial issues with FIFA and players are resolved promptly, the future of this once-powerful V-League team will become very uncertain.
