Võ Minh Trọng will part ways with Becamex TP HCM to transfer to CA TP HCM in the second stage of the V-League.
The V.League transfer market in phase 2 is experiencing surprising changes, with the latest spotlight falling on defender Võ Minh Trọng. Although there has been no official announcement from either side, recent images of Minh Trọng training with CA TP HCM strongly suggest that a major signing is imminent.
If this deal goes through, Minh Trọng will become the second key player from Becamex TP HCM to join the police-affiliated club this season, following team captain and striker Nguyễn Tiến Linh.
Võ Minh Trọng’s career journey is a rapid rise story in Vietnamese football in recent years. From a promising young player at Đồng Tháp in the First Division, Minh Trọng made a significant leap by joining Becamex TP HCM in the V.League. There, with his resilient style and impressive attacking support, he quickly earned the trust to become the first-choice left wing-back for both the U23 and the Vietnamese national team.
Under the leadership of coach Philippe Troussier, Minh Trọng was considered a "favorite" and an irreplaceable asset in the French coach’s tactical setup. He set an impressive record by starting all first five matches since his national team debut, including high-profile friendlies against South Korea, China, Uzbekistan, and two World Cup qualifiers against the Philippines and Iraq. The highlight was at the 2024 Asian Cup finals, where the 2001-born defender was trusted to start all three group stage matches for the "Golden Star Warriors".
However, after coach Troussier left in March 2024 – the same time Minh Trọng played his last match for the national team against Indonesia in the World Cup qualifiers – his position changed somewhat. Under new coach Kim Sang-sik, the Đồng Tháp native seems no longer prioritized and has been absent from recent national team call-ups. Nevertheless, at club level, he has maintained consistent performance and remained a crucial figure for Becamex TP HCM before deciding to seek a new challenge.
With Minh Trọng joining from phase 2, CA TP HCM is showing strong ambition in the V.League title race this season. Fans eagerly anticipate the debut of this "left flank arrow" in his new colors.
Minh Trọng’s toughness and extensive international experience will surely strengthen CA TP HCM’s defense, making it more solid and flexible, while also opening the door for his potential return to the national team lineup in the near future.
