Chelsea fans plan to boycott the club's owners

Chelsea is on the verge of a new chaotic phase, both on the field and off it, as fan protests intensify.

According to several reliable sources in England, The Blues’ supporters are preparing to hold a large-scale demonstration directly pressuring co-owner Behdad Eghbali and the entire club leadership team.

The root cause stems from the fans’ prolonged disappointment with Chelsea’s development direction under the new ownership. After head coach Enzo Maresca officially parted ways with Stamford Bridge, many fans believe the club has failed to meet the standards expected of a Premier League giant. Frequent managerial changes, unstable transfer policies, and results that don’t match the club’s financial strength have severely eroded supporters’ trust.

This protest is initiated by a fan group named Not a Project CFC, clearly expressing opposition to Chelsea being treated as a long-term experimental project. The gathering is scheduled for January 17, right before the London derby between Chelsea and Brentford at Stamford Bridge. This timing is sensitive, as pressure from the stands could directly impact the club’s image and the leadership’s strategic decisions.

In this context, Chelsea has further stirred controversy by reportedly nearing the appointment of Liam Rosenior, currently managing Strasbourg, as Maresca’s successor. Rosenior is part of the BlueCo ecosystem and has made some impact in Ligue 1. However, this has yet to convince Chelsea’s demanding supporters.

The backlash arises because Rosenior, despite having played in the Premier League, lacks top-level managerial experience. For a club that has won Europe’s top prize and aims to compete for major titles, many fans believe Chelsea requires a high-caliber coach with strong character and extensive experience, rather than continuing to bet on experimental choices.

On the sporting side, Chelsea currently hold 5th place in the Premier League table after a 2-2 draw with Bournemouth just before the New Year. However, the 15-point gap to league leaders Arsenal shows The Blues are far from championship contention. This performance raises serious questions among fans about the club’s long-term development strategy.
