Manchester United has given the green light for 21-year-old academy winger Sam Mather to leave the club on a free transfer. He is currently negotiating with teams from the Turkish Süper Lig and Major League Soccer, with the move expected to be finalized in early January. It is reported that Turkish side Kayserispor has already made an offer to the Red Devils, while the New England Revolution from the US are also interested.

The British Daily Mail revealed that the Turkish club is the most likely to acquire this English player for free. Although no transfer fee is involved, the contract will include clauses for future resale percentages and buy-back options. If Mather performs well, Manchester United could still earn some revenue. Mather has agreed to the personal terms offered, making the transfer only a matter of time.
Kayserispor aimed to complete the deal during the summer transfer window, but timing issues prevented it. Afterwards, Mather also attempted a move to the UAE, but negotiations failed again. As a result, he had to remain at Carrington, where he could train with the first team under Rúben Amorim but only play matches for the U21 squad.
Now, Manchester United is showing goodwill by helping Mather find an opportunity to officially start his professional career. During his time at United, he was selected for England's youth national teams and experienced two loan spells but has little professional match experience. He made 10 appearances and scored 2 goals for Rochdale, but that was in the English National League, which is semi-professional. Mather was also loaned to League One side Tranmere Rovers but only played 4 minutes there, effectively none.
Mather is now set to leave England to participate in a top professional league in Turkey. Rumors also suggest another Manchester United academy talent might leave during the winter window. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's Swiss club Lausanne-Sport has agreed with Manchester United to loan the Mali midfielder Sekou Koné until the end of this season.

When 19-year-old Koné joined Manchester United, he was compared to Essien and Yaya Touré. Although his development has been hampered by injuries, many clubs remain interested, with over 10 teams expressing a desire to loan him. Lausanne-Sport holds an advantage due to their connection with Sir Ratcliffe. The club already has another United loanee, forward Enzo Canal-Biyok, who joined United from Le Havre and was immediately loaned to Switzerland.
While the youth prospect is likely to depart, it won’t be so easy for first-team players wanting to transfer out of Manchester United. Amorim emphasized that he has not discussed any January signings with sporting director Jason Wilcox, nor have any first-team players requested transfers.
“No, not a single player has asked me, and I don’t believe they would come to me to request a transfer,” Amorim said at the Premier League pre-match press conference. “The way the transfer window operates will not change. We have not discussed altering the squad.”
The Daily Mail described the United manager as looking grim and expressionless while making these remarks, appearing displeased. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano stated that Amorim actually wants to buy players, but the club’s top management is reluctant. Therefore, the 40-year-old Portuguese coach has clearly stated that if no signings are made in January, he will not approve the sale or loan of any first-team players.

Serie A's Roma has reached a personal agreement with Zirkzee, Napoli is interested in Cody Meno, and there are recent rumors that Ugart has accepted an invitation from Galatasaray. However, Amorim remains firm, insisting that players will only be allowed to leave if suitable replacements are secured. Thus, Manchester United has not opened the door for any first-team player transfers at this time.
