Two Vietnamese players scoring in the same match is a once-in-a-century event

Tuyết Dung and Thùy Trang, two unique talents in Vietnamese football, both stood out while competing against each other in futsal.

On the afternoon of January 2nd, the highlight match of the 3rd round of the 2025 National Women's Futsal Championship between the runner-up Ho Chi Minh City Women's Club and Phong Phú Hà Nam took place with great intensity during the opening game slot. Both teams started with a tight game, exchanging attacks for most of the time but neither side managed to create a clear advantage.

However, the difference in the match was made by two players regarded as "once in a hundred years" talents in Vietnamese football. They are Thùy Trang from Ho Chi Minh City Club and Tuyết Dung from Phong Phú Hà Nam. Not only in Vietnamese football but also internationally, few players have achieved what these two have.

Thùy Trang is a rare gem in women's football, having won SEA Games gold medals in both 11-a-side and 7-a-side formats. After becoming a legend of the Vietnam women's national team with the historic qualification for the 2023 World Cup and numerous titles, Thùy Trang continued her success in futsal by winning the Southeast Asian Women's Futsal Championship and SEA Games 33.

Meanwhile, at the end of December, Tuyết Dung officially started a new chapter in her career by switching to futsal after retiring from 11-a-side football. In 2015, Tuyết Dung caused a sensation by scoring two goals directly from corner kicks taken from two different directions when Vietnam's women's team played Malaysia. These corner kick goals made Tuyết Dung the first female player to score twice from corner kicks in a single match.

Once close teammates who greatly contributed to Vietnam women's football dominance in Southeast Asia and especially to qualifying for the Women's World Cup for the first time in history, the duo Tuyết Dung and Thùy Trang have now surprisingly become rivals on the futsal court.

Thùy Trang opened the scoring for Ho Chi Minh City Club before Tuyết Dung equalized and sealed the 1-1 draw for Phong Phú Hà Nam. Thùy Trang is accustomed to futsal, having played it before switching to 11-a-side, while Tuyết Dung is only playing her third official futsal match but has already scored twice.
