26 Malaysian coaches were suddenly dismissed together without any transparent explanation.
A total of 26 Malaysian coaches from the National Football Development Program (NFDP) and Mokhtar Dahari Academy (AMD) have sought assistance after being informed that their services were terminated with no clear details and very short notice.
It is reported that the coaches received an email today notifying them that their contracts had been terminated, with the official termination letters to follow. Previously, it was said that all 26 coaches — including 14 state-level coaches and 12 AMD coaches — were only informed during a Google Meet discussion on December 15, with no further updates afterward.
Most affected coaches questioned this decision, claiming it violated their contract terms which require prior notice before termination.
"We don't know how to handle this situation. We never expected this to happen and don't even know which government agency to contact for support or advice. We are coaches, skilled only on the field, and when things like this occur, we are completely confused," said one of the affected coaches.
"We have carefully reviewed our employment contracts but still find some points unclear; getting advice would help us plan our next steps."
"We can accept contract termination — that is inevitable in football — but being fired in less than a month is very difficult. Most of us only know coaching football and don’t have time to immediately look for new jobs."
However, the Ministry of Youth and Sports transferred NFDP to FAM in a move aimed at streamlining, improving, and professionalizing grassroots football talent development under national agency management rather than NSC.
