14-time national champions honor the captain of the Vietnam team

Thai Son Nam Club expresses heartfelt gratitude to captain Pham Duc Hoa following his decision to retire.

On the last day of 2025, the Vietnamese sports community bid farewell to one of the greatest icons in futsal. Ho Chi Minh City’s Thai Son Nam Club officially released a tribute and confirmed that captain Pham Duc Hoa has chosen to end his professional playing career. A 13-year journey full of glory, resilience, and extraordinary effort has come to a close.

Switching from 11-a-side football to futsal in 2012, Pham Duc Hoa crafted a fairy tale of professionalism. Wearing the Thai Son Nam jersey, he became the "soul" who led the team to dominate the national league for over a decade, securing numerous championships (most recently a hat-trick in 2023, 2024, and 2025). On the continental stage, he was a key player helping Vietnam’s representative achieve one runner-up and three third-place finishes in the Asian Club Championships.

At the national team level, the "legendary number 6" was an irreplaceable figure in two historic FIFA Futsal World Cups (2016 and 2021). The image of Duc Hoa scoring against Russia in the 2021 World Cup became a symbol of Vietnam futsal’s courageous spirit. After taking over the captain’s armband from teammate Tran Van Vu, Duc Hoa excellently fulfilled the role of leading the young generation, becoming a strong emotional pillar for the entire team.

His career was highlighted by prestigious individual awards, with the peak being the 2023 Vietnamese Futsal Golden Ball. At 35, with his legs beginning to tire after thousands of battles, Duc Hoa decided to step down to make way for the next generation. Thai Son Nam shared emotionally: "We will always remember him – a beloved captain, a brave warrior, and a role model for young players to follow."

Pham Duc Hoa’s farewell at the dawn of 2026 evokes deep emotions among fans. However, this is not a complete end. According to the club’s announcement, fans eagerly anticipate seeing him return in a new role, possibly as part of the coaching staff, continuing to inspire passion and share experience for Vietnamese futsal.

Pham Duc Hoa leaves the court as a legend. Thirteen years of dedication saw him not only score goals and win titles but also set the highest standards of professionalism for future generations. Thank you, exemplary captain of Vietnam futsal!
