Forward Nguyễn Xuân Son shared meaningful posts on the opening day of 2026.
Recently, striker Nguyễn Xuân Son attracted attention with two posts showing his determination on his personal Facebook page.
In the first post, the 1997-born star shared images wearing the Vietnam national team jersey in 2025, a year in which he achieved success at the AFF Cup 2024, alongside a difficult injury recovery period. Xuân Son wrote: "Part 1. (Love for the flag). The year 2025 was the most challenging in my career, a year when I had to push beyond my limits."
In the following post, the Brazil-born star expressed his affection for his club, Thép Xanh Nam Định, which elevated his name to a new level and served as a place of many career achievements in Vietnam.
"Part 2. (Love for the blue). This club will always hold a special place in my heart; I spent the best years of my life here. Thank God, thank football, for these wonderful moments. Thép Xanh Nam Định FC", Xuân Son shared.
In 2025, Xuân Son played only 4 matches, including 34 minutes in the second leg of the AFF Cup 2024 final before suffering a severe injury at Rajamangala. The 28-year-old star took over 10 months to recover, then made a spectacular comeback by scoring the opening goal in Vietnam's victory over Laos in the 5th match of Group F in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.
Riding the momentum, Xuân Son continued to make a strong impact in the Thép Xanh Nam Định jersey. He scored a hat-trick in the win against Shan United, then added a brace in the overwhelming victory over Bangkok United, helping his team lead Group B in the Shopee Cup.
With a powerful comeback at the end of 2025, Xuân Son promises to deliver an explosive performance in 2026.
For Nam Định, Xuân Son’s return to scoring is a positive sign as the team looks to secure victories in the second half of the season, especially since their attack had lacked peak form during his absence.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam national team will gain a valuable addition to their offense with Xuân Son’s presence, aiming for important campaigns. The immediate goal for the "Golden Dragons" is nothing less than a win against Malaysia in the final Group F match of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, hoping for a turnaround to secure a spot in Asia’s most prestigious tournament.
