FIFA brings great news to the Football Association of Malaysia

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) recently obtained encouraging information from FIFA, during a time when Malaysian football is undergoing many fluctuations.

According to Makanbola, the pitch at Bukit Jalil National Stadium (SNBJ), one of Malaysia’s largest and most important stadiums, has officially been rated “Excellent” by FIFA according to international standards.

This announcement was made by the Malaysia Stadium Management Corporation (PSM) on their official media platforms, quickly drawing attention from experts and fans alike. It is considered a significant boost for FAM, especially in their strategy to upgrade infrastructure to support future international tournaments.

PSM stated that FIFA evaluated the SNBJ pitch under the Natural Grass Field Quality Program, applying strict criteria related to turf quality, player safety, and actual playing performance. After the assessment, Bukit Jalil scored 86%, qualifying it for the “Cemerlang” (Excellent) rating, the highest grade in FIFA’s classification system.

In the official statement, PSM emphasized: “The natural turf at Bukit Jalil National Stadium has now achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating (86%) under FIFA’s Natural Grass Field Quality Program, confirming that the quality, safety, and playing performance meet international standards. The management and maintenance of the pitch continue to be professionally carried out to ensure the stadium is always ready to host sporting events and high-class programs.”

In fact, the quality of the SNBJ pitch has been consistently verified throughout 2025 as it has repeatedly hosted important matches for the Malaysian national team, as well as crucial domestic football games. Notably, Bukit Jalil was the venue for the match Malaysia 4-0 Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Not only serving as the “heart” of Malaysian football, Bukit Jalil Stadium is also associated with many remarkable milestones over the past year. Among them was the international friendly between Malaysia and Singapore on September 4, 2025, held at Bukit Jalil. Although Malaysia won 2-1 on the field, later FIFA awarded a 0-3 forfeit loss due to the use of ineligible players.
