Center-back Lisandro Martinez showed his frustration after Manchester United's 1-1 draw with Wolves in the 19th round of the 2025/26 Premier League. Martinez believes that today, MU faced issues with spirit and hesitation.
A disappointing 1-1 draw against bottom-placed Wolves at Old Trafford on the last day of 2025 left MU members feeling frustrated. Lisandro Martinez could not hide his annoyance and openly pointed out the team's problems in the post-match interview.
The Argentine star believes that failing to secure three points at home against a team sitting at the bottom of the Premier League is unacceptable: "It’s really frustrating and disappointing. We can’t come here, play at home, and only get a draw. We have to win when playing at Old Trafford. The opponents should suffer, but today, we didn’t get the three points."
Nicknamed "The Butcher," the player also thoroughly analyzed why Man Utd lost the victory. According to him, the team played well in the first half but inexplicably dropped off afterwards: "We played well with the ball in the first half but then retreated too deep, failing to press their center-backs. That was the wrong approach. Immediately, Wolves comfortably controlled the ball and started moving, creating space and causing problems for MU."
Additionally, Martinez admitted that the lack of decisiveness and risk-taking in Man Utd's play was partly why MU drew disappointingly and dropped many points this season: "Wolves don’t deserve their current position; they are a strong team. We respect them, but MU should have taken more risks."
As for coach Ruben Amorim, he was also uncomfortable after the match: "I think MU struggled throughout the game. We lacked chances, but MU knew this would be a different match compared to the one against Newcastle. Looking at the full 90 minutes, we had opportunities, but the attacking coherence was missing. Currently, we lack connection. The positions on the pitch couldn’t find each other in this game. Still, everyone tried. But honestly, we didn’t play well, ball control was poor, and the opponent made it difficult for us. We need to recover quickly and focus on the next match."
