Ruben Amorim highlighted the biggest frustration causing MU to draw with bottom-ranked Wolves

Drawing 1-1 with Wolves, the league's lowest-ranked team, MU once again lost valuable points, with coach Ruben Amorim openly identifying the main problem as the team's disconnection in gameplay.

The draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers left Manchester United visibly disappointed, not only because their opponent was considered weaker but also because it was another missed chance for the Red Devils to push up the league standings.

After the match, coach Ruben Amorim spoke frankly, admitting that his team is facing serious issues in organizing and connecting their style of play.

Speaking to the BBC, Amorim did not shy away from the facts: “We struggled throughout the match. We lacked the ability to create chances. Looking back at the 90 minutes, we had some good moments, but there was no fluency in attack. Right now, we are missing connection.” According to the Portuguese strategist, this was the biggest difference between the Wolves draw and the better performances Man United had shown previously.

Amorim emphasized that Wolves started with a dense defensive system, forcing Man United to adapt their style of play.

“This game was completely different from the Newcastle match. When the opponent has many defenders, you have to work harder, be imaginative, and play more creatively. Today, we lacked that.” Despite having more possession, Man United failed to apply enough pressure to convert their dominance into a decisive goal.

In fact, this draw clearly reflects Man United's inconsistent form under Amorim in the 2025 Premier League season. After 38 games, the team has 13 wins, 11 draws, and 14 losses, a record that falls short of expectations.

Notably, recently Man United dropped points at home against Wolves and West Ham, both teams currently in the relegation zone. If they had capitalized on these matches, the Red Devils could have comfortably stayed in the top 4.

Regarding the team’s spirit, Amorim still defended his players: “They tried hard. But when you don’t control the ball well, you face difficulties. We need to recover and focus on the next match.”

He also explained his decision to substitute Joshua Zirkzee despite the player having scored: “Sometimes playing with fewer strikers leads to more effective attacking. We played with three forwards, but that’s not always the best approach.”

Closing the interview, Amorim viewed the Wolves draw as a costly lesson that must be accepted: “The match is over, and you cannot change the result. What matters is to keep moving forward and focus on the next game.” However, if Man United do not quickly improve their connection and creativity in play, similar slip-ups are likely to recur in the Premier League.
