Liverpool is recommended to acquire Arsenal’s defender Jurrien Timber to fix their defensive frailties, with manager Arne Slot concerned about the team repeatedly conceding from dead-ball scenarios.
Liverpool is being encouraged to pursue a daring transfer by signing Arsenal’s Jurrien Timberamidst Arne Slot’s defensive challenges.
The reigning Premier League champions at Anfield are facing numerous issues this season. After 18 matches, the Reds have conceded 26 goals, including 12 from set pieces. Although Liverpool remains in the top four, both manager Slot and captain Virgil van Dijk acknowledge this as a critical weakness that must be urgently addressed.
Van Dijk candidly commented after the 2-1 victory over Wolves: “We concede too many goals from set pieces, especially second balls. It’s not just tactical but a concentration issue. The whole team needs to improve immediately, and only through training can we fix this.”
Coach Arne Slot also voiced his worries: “We hardly score from corners or free kicks, yet we keep getting punished on those exact situations. The only positive is that the team still manages to win, but clearly, this is a major problem to solve.”
In light of this, former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has advised his old club to seek a quality right-backand the player he targets is Jurrien Timberthe star currently shining for Arsenal.
Warnock stated: “Liverpool needs a proper center-back and right-back. Frimpong, Gomez, and Bradley are frequently injured and none can play consistently. Timber is the best fit: strong in duels, versatile, and has proven his resilience after an ACL injury. He might even be the best right-back in the Premier League right now.”
Timber still has over two and a half years left on his Arsenal contract, and the Gunners are reportedly planning an extension. However, experts believe that if Liverpool are serious, this could be an exciting transfer to watch in the January 2026 window.
