This season, under ex-Bundesliga title-winning coach Alonso, Real Madrid has stagnated, suffering defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City in the Champions League and falling 4 points behind Barcelona in La Liga, risking a season without any trophies. The club urgently needs to secure a powerful central defender at his peak, with Dortmund’s German defender Schlottbeck as their main target.
According to the latest report from German media outlet Bild, Real Madrid intends to make an offer for Schlottbeck, but Dortmund values him as a key player and has set a price of €70 million. Given the limited spending power of La Liga clubs currently, Real Madrid plans to include a player exchange, offering €35 million plus two promising youngsters: 18-year-old Spanish defender Diego Aguado and 21-year-old Spanish forward Gonzalo García, who impressed at the 2025 Club World Cup.
It is reported that Real Madrid’s offer is unlikely to satisfy Dortmund. Although the Yellow Submarine club is known for developing young talent and values Aguado and García, they believe Real Madrid still needs to increase the cash portion of the bid.
