The latest report from foreign media nogomania states that Inter Miami, Messi’s club, is keen on acquiring Argentine international midfielder Lo Celso. Although his current Transfermarkt valuation is 15 million euros, Real Betis has only priced him at 5 million US dollars, which is roughly a 30% of his value. If Inter Miami successfully signs Lo Celso in the winter transfer window to replace the departing Busquets, Lo Celso will soon team up with Messi to compete in MLS, also preparing in advance for the 2026 World Cup hosted by the US, Canada, and Mexico.
It is reported that Lo Celso, who unfortunately missed the 2022 World Cup due to injury, places great importance on the 2026 World Cup and is eager to maintain his form by playing regularly. However, at Real Betis in La Liga, he is currently a rotational player and has struggled to get consistent playing time since November. As Lo Celso is not a key tactical player for the coach and earns a pre-tax salary of 5.2 million euros, making him one of the higher-paid players, Real Betis is willing to sell him at a low price just to recover costs. Betis spent 5 million euros to sign Lo Celso from Tottenham in the summer 2024 transfer window, and now they have priced him at only 5 million US dollars.
If negotiations between Inter Miami and Real Betis go smoothly, Lo Celso will sign a 2-year contract with Inter Miami, including an option to extend for an additional year. Currently, Inter Miami and Lo Celso’s agent are in talks, and both sides are optimistic about completing the deal. It is expected that next season Messi will have another Argentine international by his side, forming an Argentine trio with Messi, De Paul, and Lo Celso.
