Cristiano Ronaldo reiterated his goal of achieving 1,000 career goals at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards event.
The Portuguese superstar was present to receive the award Best Player in the Middle East, surpassing notable names like Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, and Salem Al-Dawsari, after scoring twice in Al-Nassr’s 3-0 victory over Al-Akhdoud. This also marked his third consecutive year dominating this award, completing a hat-trick of titlesthat gathers many top stars currently playing in the region.
In the recent match against Al-Akhdoud, Ronaldo scored 2 goals, bringing his career total to 956 goals, making the 1,000-goal milestone increasingly within reach. Speaking at the Globe Soccer Awards, Ronaldo shared the motivation behind his pursuit of new heights: “It’s an honor to be part of a gala with so many prominent sports figures. This is one of my favorite events because I get to meet amazing people, including my wife.”
“Maintaining top-level performance is never easy, but I still have passion and drive. Whether playing in the Middle East or Europe, I want to keep winning titles and reach the milestone everyone knows about. I’m confident I will achieve it if I avoid injuries. Wishing everyone a pleasant evening and a happy new year.”
Portugal’s head coach, Roberto Martinez, believes Ronaldo can reach the four-digit mark before retiring. Speaking to Marca, Martinez said: “He is at a very good point in his career. Ronaldo lives fully in the present. When it comes to milestones, he doesn’t think far ahead about 1,000 games or any specific number. Ronaldo’s secret is always striving to be the best version of himself every day and enjoying every moment. That number will come when he decides to stop. I don’t think it’s an obsession for him.”
Ronaldo is expected to continue leading Portugal when the 2026 World Cup kicks off in North America. At the club level, he also aims to finish 2025 strongly as Al-Nassr visits Al-Ettifaq, seeking their 11th consecutive domestic league win. Afterwards, the yellow-clad team will start 2026 facing Al-Ahli, managed by English striker Ivan Toney.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star is determined to help Al-Nassr claim the Saudi Pro League title, a trophy he has yet to win since joining the club in 2023. So far, Ronaldo’s only title with Al-Nassr is the 2023 Arab Club Champions Cup.
