Manchester United will have a rare midweek double on Tuesday night, taking on the Premier League's lowest-ranked Wolves. Wolves suffer a disadvantage as their midfield key player André is suspended and cannot play, adding another layer of assurance for the Red Devils to secure a win.

During the weekend’s 1-2 defeat to Liverpool, André picked up his fifth yellow card this season, which under Premier League regulations means he will be suspended for the match against Manchester United. This is a further blow to Wolves, who currently sit last in the table with only 2 points, and under Edwards’ management have yet to secure a single win this season.
Although Manchester United’s form has been inconsistent this season, winning at home against such a struggling and depleted Wolves side is still considered straightforward. Not long ago, United crushed Wolves 4-1 away, marking Amorim’s biggest Premier League victory as a coach.
Moreover, after a 1-0 win over Newcastle United, the Red Devils are entering a favorable run of fixtures, facing a series of relatively weak opponents following Wolves.
After hosting Wolves, Manchester United will play their first 2026 match away against newly promoted Leeds United, who currently sit 16th. The next opponent is Burnley, also an away game, but the "Clarets" are second from bottom and known for conceding points easily.
In other words, in the next three matches, Manchester United’s opponents are all in the bottom five of the table, making this the best chance for Amorim to achieve his first four-game winning streak as manager! Including the FA Cup third-round home match against Brighton (13th in the Premier League), the team has a chance to string together five consecutive wins across all competitions before the mid-January Manchester derby against City, giving fans a joyful start to the new year.

Young Manchester United center-back Ethen Haven is full of confidence, boldly claiming that this season they can not only challenge for a Champions League spot but also dream of the title. "You can see from Manchester United’s history that we have won the Champions League three times. I believe that is where we belong, and truly, it’s only a matter of time before we return. With six or seven days between matches, we have plenty of time to recover, putting us in the best position to achieve the highest possible ranking."
Haven, a product of Arsenal’s youth academy, declared: "We aim to return to European competitions next season. Manchester United can push for the top four, and even challenge for the league title. Everything is possible. We will keep working hard and trying continuously."
According to the BBC, Haven is also confident about his international future. Although eligible to represent Ghana, he has chosen to remain loyal to England. Reportedly, the Ghana Football Association has been monitoring him and wishes to call him up, but the player has stated his ambition is to play for the England senior team.
Haven previously represented England’s U20 team and suffered an ankle injury during international duty last October. In his last two appearances for Manchester United, he performed impressively and was named man of the match in the game against Newcastle.
However, given Wolves’ weak squad, Manchester United’s coach Amorim may revert to his favored 3-4-3 formation, especially if Mason Mount, who was injured against Newcastle, is unable to start, increasing the likelihood of the three-center-back system returning to Old Trafford.

Predicted Manchester United starting lineup vs Wolves: Senna Lamens / Lenny Yaro, Ethen Haven, Lisandro Martinez / Diogo Dalot, Casemiro, Wugate, Luke Shaw / Patrick Dogu, Sheshko, Cunha.
