Real Madrid has expressed deep condolences to the family and Valencia club after the heartbreaking tragedy in Indonesia, which claimed the lives of Valencia B women's team coach Fernando Martín and his three children in a boat sinking accident in the waters of Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara.
In an official announcement, the Spanish royal club conveyed its sorrow over the sudden death of the 44-year-old coach and his children. "Real Madrid and the club’s board are deeply saddened by the passing of Fernando Martín and his three children in the tragic maritime accident in Indonesia," the statement emphasized. At the same time, Real Madrid extended its sympathy and encouragement to his wife Andrea Ortuno and daughter Mar—two fortunate survivors—during this particularly difficult period.
According to verified information, the tragedy happened on December 27 when Fernando Martín’s family was on a Pinisi boat named Putri Sakinah touring the strait near Padar Island, part of Komodo National Park. The boat reportedly experienced engine failure at sea, then was hit by waves about 1.5 meters high, causing it to break apart and sink rapidly. Of the 11 people on board, only 7 were saved.
