Sponsors remain loyal to the Malaysian Super League even in the face of FIFA's sanctions on FAM.
The Football Association of Malaysia (MFL) has reassured fans and stakeholders that sponsorship backing for domestic competitions remains steady, based on the ongoing trust partners have in the league's direction.
The acting CEO of MFL, Shazli Shaik, stated that the M-League has not received any indication from sponsors about plans to withdraw or reduce their commitments.
"So far, we have not received any requests from sponsors expressing any concerns," he said. "Based on our performance at the recently concluded FA Cup, our sponsors are very satisfied with what we have achieved."
Shazli mentioned that MFL's commercial partnerships remain unaffected, with the league continuing to focus on professional standards and delivering value. When asked about sponsor stability, Shazli confirmed no sponsors have been lost.
"At present, there are no such cases," he added. Beyond commercial matters, Shazli noted improvements in club licensing and compliance with the Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations this season. "Compared to last season, this year is very positive. Regarding club health, only one club is currently facing issues, which is Police FC," he said.
This assurance comes amid fans' concerns about whether FIFA's recent sanctions on the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) might indirectly affect sponsorship for the M-League.
Previously, sports critic Datuk Dr Pekan Ramli had questioned the financial stability of Malaysian football following FIFA's sanctions: “FAM might need one to two decades to restore the country's image on the international stage,”he commented.“Sponsors may withdraw, fan support could decline due to integrity issues, and future naturalization programs will face significant doubts.”
