More than 300 players from 24 teams, representing primary schools across the city, are competing in the tournament.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Truong Cong Quoc Viet, Deputy Director of the Can Tho Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, stated that the 2025 VJSS Citywide Children’s Football Tournament is not only a healthy sports platform but also an environment to cultivate determination, skills, and team spirit; it offers children the chance to showcase their talents, continuously strive to improve their willpower and expertise; moreover, it provides an opportunity for players to compete with full dedication, entertaining audiences with exciting and intense matches.

The VJSS Citywide Children’s Football Tournament – Yamaha Cup 2025 takes place over two days, December 27-28, featuring 24 teams divided into 8 groups playing a single round-robin format. The competition applies a three-tier system: Champion A, B, and C. After the group stage, teams are grouped based on their rankings, with group winners advancing to the Champion A quarterfinals, runners-up to Champion B, and third-place teams competing in Champion C.
This format helps balance the skill levels among teams, ensuring every team has a clear path to reach the final match. It is considered an innovative step to create a harmonious development environment for primary school age players. With this system, all 24 participating teams have the opportunity to become champions.
According to Mr. Nguyen Hoai Anh, Director of the VJSS Football Center and Head of the Organizing Committee, the tournament symbolizes a beginning for primary school-aged players, emphasizing a spirit of wholehearted competition. This is the first step toward building a sustainable school football ecosystem. With the new competition format, the VJSS - Yamaha Cup 2025 not only provides a healthy competitive environment but also lays the foundation to promote the sustainable development of school football in the coming years.

On this occasion, the VJSS Football Center donates 1,000 footballs to the Can Tho City Football Federation to support and encourage the community football movement.
