The International Federation of Football History & Statistics has selected the top 10 best national team coaches.
Recently, the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS) revealed the list of the top 10 best men's national team coaches worldwide for 2025.
Specifically, in the 2025 annual ranking, coach Luis de la Fuente topped the list with 136 points, far ahead of prominent names such as Roberto Martinez and Lionel Scaloni, who won this award in 2022 and 2023. This marks the second consecutive year Fuente has received this prestigious honor after leading La Roja to victory at Euro 2024.
Notably, on March 27, 2026, in Doha, De la Fuente will face Scaloni in the Finalissima match, a showdown regarded as a prelude to the biggest event of the year, the World Cup.
Under De la Fuente's leadership, Spain secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup after an impressive qualifying campaign. The European champions also set a new record with a 31-match unbeaten streak in official games, surpassing their previous historical milestone, and climbed back to the top spot in the FIFA rankings, overtaking Argentina led by Lionel Messi.
Meanwhile, coach Carlo Ancelotti did not appear in this year’s top 10 list. This is understandable since the Italian tactician only took charge of Brazil’s national team in May. Over the past seven months under Ancelotti, the Selecao’s results have been modest, with 4 wins, 2 draws, and 2 losses, finishing 5th overall in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
At the 2026 World Cup, the Samba team is placed in Group C alongside Morocco, Haiti, and Scotland. This group is considered relatively manageable for Brazil and represents an opportunity for Ancelotti to prove his coaching abilities and help Selecao reclaim the world title after a 24-year wait.
