With Liaoning suffering a heavy 32-point defeat, Shanghai crushed Jiangsu, updating the latest CBA rankings: Guangsha takes the top spot.

On December 26th Beijing time, the sixth round of the CBA regular season began. In last night’s two matches, Shanghai struck hard to beat the weak Jiangsu 84-68, while the heavyweight clash became one-sided as Guangsha dominated Liaoning 96-64. Consequently, the rankings have shifted: Guangsha surpassed Beijing to take the top spot, Shanghai climbed to third, Guangdong fourth, Jilin fifth, and Liaoning sixth!

Shanghai versus Jiangsu. Shanghai had a huge win against Zhejiang in the previous round, and now faced the very weak Jiangsu, who had just narrowly ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-point win over Tianjin. Judging by overall strength, there was a clear gap between the teams, so Shanghai was expected to win comfortably. The game started with Shanghai firing on all cylinders, scoring 29-18 in the first quarter to quickly build a double-digit lead. Although Shanghai’s offense slowed in the second quarter, Jiangsu matched them point for point, ending the quarter tied at 16-16, keeping the halftime gap unchanged. After the break, Shanghai resumed their aggressive attack, further extending the lead and taking control early. The game lost suspense quickly, and Shanghai secured a big victory over Jiangsu, earning their second straight win and climbing to third place!

Guangsha versus Liaoning. Guangsha, the defending champions, have been consistent recently with a three-game winning streak. This round they faced the former champions and strong team Liaoning. The matchup was expected to be a fierce battle, but the result was disappointing. From the start, Guangsha’s multiple scorers suppressed Liaoning with relentless offense, leaving Liaoning in disarray and retreating step by step. The point difference kept growing until the contest was decided early. Guangsha’s 32-point blowout win over Liaoning marked their fourth consecutive victory, propelling them to first place in the standings!

As a result, in the latest rankings, only Beijing and Guangdong remain undefeated with five straight wins. However, the top spot has changed hands, with Guangsha, having played one more game, edging out five-win Beijing to take first place. Shanghai, also with one extra game played, surpassed five-win Guangdong to claim third. Meanwhile, Sichuan and Tianjin remain winless at the bottom of the table. Jilin has performed well, bouncing back from two opening losses to win four straight games and climb to fifth place!
