VFF is preparing to make a historic decision regarding youth football in Vietnam.

The 11th Executive Committee meeting of the 9th term of the Vietnam Football Federation approved the policy to adjust the registration rules for youth players (U9-U21) in football tournaments starting from 2026.

On December 25th, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the 11th Executive Committee meeting of the 9th term (2022-2026) was held. The meeting reviewed the results of work in 2025 and planned key tasks for 2026, while also discussing and approving many important matters to prepare for the VFF Annual Congress 2025 (scheduled for December 26, 2025).

At the meeting, the Executive Committee acknowledged the positive achievements made in 2025, reflecting the close, proactive, and decisive leadership of the Committee in implementing tasks according to the set plans and goals. The Committee especially appreciated the significant contributions from football clubs and training centers in building the national football team, which achieved excellent results in 2025 and the previous years.

Additionally, the Executive Committee agreed on the policy to modify the registration regulations for youth players (U9-U21) in football competitions from 2026, thereby facilitating better training and development of Vietnam’s future football talent pool.

The Executive Committee discussed and unanimously approved several important reports and drafts to be presented at the Congress, including:

– Draft report summarizing the 2025 activities and plans for 2026 of the Vietnam Football Federation;

– Draft self-assessment report of the VFF Executive Committee;

– Report evaluating the professional work of the national football teams in 2025 and key tasks for 2026;

– Financial and sponsorship report for 2025 and the budget estimate for 2026;

– Report on the organization of the 2025/26 National Professional Football Leagues and the proposed plan for the 2026/27 season;

– Agreement on the proposal to send the national U21 team to the 2026 Asian Games to prepare thoroughly for upcoming key events, including the 34th SEA Games in 2027 hosted by Malaysia.

The 11th Executive Committee meeting of the 9th term was conducted seriously and responsibly, achieving high consensus, laying a solid foundation for the Vietnam Football Federation to successfully hold the 2025 Annual Congress and effectively implement key tasks aimed at stable and sustainable development of Vietnamese football in the coming period.
