The Vietnam U19 futsal squad, although ahead initially, lost 1-2 to Thailand at the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 futsal tournament.
Even though they lost 1-2 to host Thailand in the final group stage match, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh affirmed that the Vietnam U19 futsal team played according to the plan, showed commendable fighting spirit, and is ready to focus on the semifinals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 futsal Championship.
After the match, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh expressed his satisfaction with his players' performance, especially their tactical discipline and fighting spirit until the very end. “All players executed the game plan and coaching staff instructions excellently throughout the match. They demonstrated outstanding determination and fought with full effort until the final moment,” emphasized Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh.
Regarding the match’s technical aspects, the head coach of Vietnam U19 futsal team believed the squad created many dangerous chances but lacked a bit of precision to convert them into goals.
“We had several good shooting opportunities but couldn’t add to the score. Meanwhile, just two moments of losing focus cost us dearly. Nevertheless, the players managed and handled situations quite well. Overall, I am very proud of the team’s performance, even though the result was not as hoped,” shared Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh.
Looking ahead to the semifinals, Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh said the coaching staff has proactively prepared for all possible scenarios. The process of gathering information, monitoring, and analyzing opponents has been thoroughly implemented, whether Vietnam U19 futsal faces Indonesia or Malaysia.
Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh also reaffirmed his confidence in the players’ improvement and their ability to perform well in the upcoming match. “I trust in the development and form of the entire team in recent matches. Especially before the game against Indonesia, I fully believe in my players,” stressed Coach Nguyễn Tuấn Anh.
According to the schedule, the semifinals of the 2025 Southeast Asian U19 futsal Championship will take place on December 27. The Vietnam U19 futsal team will face Indonesia at 16:00, while the other semifinal features Thailand versus Malaysia at 19:00.
