The Vietnam U19 futsal squad lost 1-2 to Thailand in the last round, securing their place in the semifinals as the group’s runner-up.
Vietnam U19 started stronger with an early opening goal by Văn Thành. In the 2nd minute, following a turnover in midfield, Văn Thành delivered a precise shot to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Trailing early, Thailand U19 pushed forward to equalize. At the 6th minute, Chayut Yoosri made a sharp cross to Thanakrit Uansri, but his shot was saved by goalkeeper Trương Văn Khánh. The first half ended with Vietnam U19 holding a temporary lead.
In the second half, Thailand U19 increased the pressure and quickly got results. In the 22nd minute, goalkeeper Wacharin Kerdngern advanced into attack, passed to Pakpoom Thiamtee who crossed the ball, allowing Setthawut Srithong to tap in the equalizer at 1-1.
Just a minute later, the drama intensified. Thanakrit Uansri passed from midfield to Wacharin Kerdngern, who unleashed a decisive right-footed shot to put Thailand U19 ahead 2-1.
During the remaining time, both teams created several dangerous chances, but neither could convert. Ultimately, Thailand U19 won 2-1, earning a full 6 points, topping Group A, and advancing to face Malaysia in the semifinals.
Vietnam U19 finished second with 3 points and will face Indonesia U19 in the other semifinal match. According to the schedule, Thailand U19 will play Malaysia at 7:00 PM on December 27.
