The Vietnam U16 futsal squad demonstrated admirable determination, overcoming two deficits to hold Indonesia U16 to a 2-2 draw at the AFF Futsal U16 2025.
On the afternoon of December 24, 2025 (Vietnam time), Vietnam U16 faced Indonesia U16 in the opening match of the AFF Futsal U16 2025, held in Thailand.
Entering the game, Indonesia U16 was highly motivated after their 4-2 victory over Myanmar in their first match, boosted further by Indonesia’s recent gold medal win at the 2025 SEA Games at the national team level.
In the first half, Vietnam U16 faced intense pressure as the opponent controlled the game better and created several dangerous chances. In the 14th minute, Muh Alfayyadh Rafarrel unleashed a powerful shot to open the scoring for Indonesia.
In the second half, Indonesia continued to increase the tempo and doubled their lead early in the 27th minute when Rafarrel completed his brace with a close-range finish, putting the archipelago team ahead 2-0.
However, despite being pinned back, Vietnam U16 remained unshaken. The team in red gradually regained control, consistently launching dangerous attacks and applying heavy pressure on the opponent’s goal.
Vietnam U16’s efforts were rewarded when Nguyễn Bá Mạnh scored to reduce the deficit to 1-2 with a tricky redirected shot.
The following minutes saw a back-and-forth battle between the two sides, with numerous chances created but lacking accuracy in finishing.
In the final two minutes, Vietnam U16 opted for power play and intensified the pressure. With only 33 seconds left, Bùi Gia Bảo seized the opportunity to score the equalizer, securing a valuable point for Vietnam at 2-2.
This draw highlights Vietnam U16’s fighting spirit and impressive tactical adaptability, especially after being twice taken the lead by their opponents.

The teams compete in a single round-robin format, with the top two advancing to the final, while the third and fourth place teams contest the third-place match.
