Indonesian fans showed disappointment and claimed that Vietnam's U16 futsal team was "lucky" to secure a 2-2 draw in the final moments during their first game at the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship.
Right after the 2-2 draw between Vietnam U16 futsal and Indonesia U16 in the opening match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship, the Indonesian online community had mixed reactions, with many opinions suggesting that the red-shirted team was "lucky" to earn one point.
In the match held on the afternoon of December 24, U16 Indonesia played slightly better and took an early 2-0 lead thanks to Haerul’s two goals at the 13th and 26th minutes. However, Vietnam's U16 futsal team showed resilience, reducing the deficit with a goal from Bá Mạnh before Gia Bảo scored the equalizer at the 40th minute.
On social media, many Indonesian fans expressed disappointment and felt that Vietnam was fortunate. One user named Mandy Zhang commented: “Vietnam always gets lucky whenever they face Indonesia.”
Fan Arief angrily wrote: “It’s unbelievable that Vietnam got lucky in the last minute to draw with Indonesia. But it’s okay, we will come back stronger.”
Meanwhile, Paryono Edi Mila lamented: “Conceding a goal with only 30 seconds left is simply unbelievable.”
Another fan, Egasa Lim, helplessly shared: “Always unlucky whenever facing Vietnam.”
Nevertheless, this draw still holds positive significance for Vietnam’s U16 futsal team, earning one point against a highly rated opponent. According to the schedule, on December 25 at 17:30, Coach Trịnh Hữu Thành’s squad will face U16 Myanmar in their second match.
The 2025 Southeast Asian U16 Futsal Championship features five teams including host Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, and Brunei. The teams compete in a single round-robin format to determine the top two who will advance to the final. With their brave performance against Indonesia, Vietnam U16 futsal still has many chances to compete for a spot in the tournament’s final stage.
