Coach Kim Sang Sik receives a ‘special’ SEA Games gold medal

Tuoi Tre Newspaper and Phu Nhuan Jewelry Joint Stock Company (PNJ) presented Coach Kim Sang Sik with a valuable and meaningful gift: a medal made from 33 taels of 24K gold.

Attending the ceremony this morning on December 24 were Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan – President of the Vietnam Football Federation; Mr. Tran Anh Tu – Vice President of VFF and leader of Vietnam U22 team at SEA Games 33; journalist Hoang Nguyen – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper; Mr. Nguyen Chi Kien – Senior Human Resources Director of PNJ; and Ms. Pham Thuy Dung – Director of PNJ’s Northern Branch.

Coach Kim Sang Sik is the one who led Vietnam U22 to win the historic gold medal at SEA Games 33. Additionally, in 2025, Coach Kim Sang Sik brought home two other championship trophies for Vietnamese football: the Southeast Asian U23 Championship and the ASEAN Cup.

According to SEA Games 33 regulations, the host organizing committee only awards 23 medals to the 23 players competing in the football event. To honor Coach Kim Sang Sik’s contributions to Vietnamese football, Tuoi Tre Newspaper and the Arta gift product brand by PNJ designed and created a special gift for the Korean coach.

This is a limited edition gold medal, made entirely of 24K gold, weighing 33 taels, valued at over 500 million VND. The number 33 is not only a meaningful weight but also a symbolic mark, representing the milestone of the 33rd SEA Games – where Coach Kim Sang Sik made a significant impact by guiding the "Golden Star Warriors" to the highest podium of glory.

Speaking at the ceremony, journalist Hoang Nguyen – Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper – extended congratulations on the brilliant achievements of Coach Kim Sang Sik and Vietnamese football in recent times. He mentioned that football fans in Vietnam and Southeast Asia hold deep affection and great admiration for the Vietnam U22 team’s prestigious SEA Games 33 gold medal.

Furthermore, the achievements of the U23 team and the national team lately are also very proud. This shows that VFF’s football development strategy has been highly effective. Hiring Coach Kim Sang Sik – a qualified coach suited to Vietnamese football – has helped our achievements develop and laid a foundation for the future.
