The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has declared a 0-3 defeat for Malaysia in all three international friendly games.
The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has just received a new sanction from FIFA’s Disciplinary Committee. This was decided in the meeting held on December 12, 2025, concerning the use of ineligible players.
The meeting, chaired by FIFA Disciplinary Committee Vice-Chair Jorge Palacio, concluded that FAM breached Article 19 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code (2025 edition) due to fielding ineligible players in the following three senior international matches:
1- Malaysia versus Cape Verde at Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium, Cheras on May 29, 2025, which ended in a 1-1 draw.
2- Malaysia against Singapore at Bukit Jalil National Stadium on September 4, 2025, finishing with a 2-1 victory for Malaysia; and
3- Malaysia facing Palestine at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri, Johor on September 8, 2025, resulting in a 1-0 win for Malaysia.
Accordingly, the FIFA Disciplinary Committee decided to award a 3-0 loss to Malaysia in all three matches. Additionally, FAM was fined 10,000 CHF. FAM will submit a written request to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee seeking clarification on the decision before considering further steps in this matter.
Meanwhile, The Malaysian Football Association is still appealing to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) regarding the use of illegally naturalized players in two Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers against Nepal and Vietnam. No official sanctions have been imposed on this issue yet.
This is because the Asian Cup qualifiers fall under the jurisdiction of the AFC. The Asian Football Confederation will issue a final ruling after receiving the full decision from FIFA and CAS. However, the three international friendlies are directly governed by FIFA. Given this sanction, it is highly probable that Vietnam’s team will be awarded 3-0 victories.
