Ousmane Dembele secured the FIFA Men's Player of the Year award, finishing the outstanding 2024/25 campaign with a historic quintuple triumph with Paris Saint-Germain.
In the early hours of December 17 (Vietnam time), Ousmane Dembele was honored as the Best Male Player of 2025 at the FIFA The Best awards ceremony held in Doha (Qatar). This marks the second consecutive year the French star has beaten Lamine Yamal (Barcelona) to claim this prestigious accolade, capping off one of the most brilliant seasons of his career.
The 2024/25 season saw Dembele reach peak form with 37 goals and 15 assists, playing a crucial role in Paris Saint-Germain’s historic “five-title” haul including Ligue 1, the French Cup, the French Super Cup, the Champions League, and the UEFA Super Cup.
The 28-year-old star is the driving force behind PSG’s style of play, especially in the Champions League where he scored 8 goals and provided 6 assists, leading the Parisian club to their first European crown after many years of waiting. Dembele’s speed, technique, and ability to create chances have been described as the “golden key” to the success of coach Luis Enrique’s squad.
Not only shining in Europe, Dembele also helped PSG sweep all domestic titles. He was named Ligue 1’s Best Player and included in the season’s best XI by the French Professional Footballers’ Association (UNFP). With consistent performance, Dembele also topped the Ligue 1 scoring charts, confirming his comprehensive influence across all competitions.
On the international stage, Dembele and PSG reached the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, finishing as runners-up. Representing France, he participated in the 2024/25 UEFA Nations League, where “Les Bleus” secured third place.
The FIFA Men’s Player of the Year award is decided through a transparent voting process involving national team coaches, captains, media representatives, and fans, each group contributing 25% to the total score.
Besides Dembele, FIFA also honored Gianluigi Donnarumma (Best Goalkeeper), Luis Enrique (Best Coach) and Santiago Montiel (Independiente Club) with the Puskas Award for the best goal of the year.
