According to the Vietnam Football Federation, during training, coach Kim Sang Sik divided the squad into two groups with tailored training plans. The players who started in the semifinal against U22 Philippines mainly performed recovery exercises and muscle relaxation to ensure optimal physical condition. Meanwhile, the other group focused on tactical coordination drills and small-sided matches to maintain match rhythm and ball control.

The training atmosphere was positive, with players showing clear enthusiasm, determination, and concentration, indicating the whole team is ready for the most important match of the tournament.

Before training, center-back Nguyen Hieu Minh told the media that the U22 Vietnam team’s morale is very high. Hieu Minh shared: “The whole team is excited to enter the final. We have been ready for this goal for a long time, and everyone feels happy and confident.”

Regarding the opponent, the U22 Vietnam defender particularly noted U22 Thailand’s number 9 striker, Yotsakorn Burapha. Hieu Minh commented: “He is a player with strong finishing ability. Our defense needs to maintain distance and close down space to limit his strengths. The coaching staff will definitely analyze video thoroughly so the team can prepare as best as possible.”

Talking about the preparation process, Hieu Minh emphasized that U22 Vietnam has had an extended period of training and quality international matches. This has helped the team build better cohesion and resilience when facing critical moments. He said: “Our style may not be flashy, but it is a style we have developed. For the defense, the primary task is to keep a clean sheet. As for scoring, we trust our forwards.”

Recalling the intense semifinal against U22 Philippines, Hieu Minh revealed that during halftime, coach Kim Sang Sik emphasized each individual's sense of responsibility and desire to contribute. He shared: “The coach said this is a turning point; everyone must try a little harder to shine for the team.”

The support from Vietnamese fans is also considered a great motivation for the U22 Vietnam players. “When warming up on the field and looking up at the stands filled with many Vietnamese supporters, it is a proud feeling and gives us a huge boost,” Hieu Minh said. He believes the passionate atmosphere at Rajamangala Stadium will further inspire the team’s fighting spirit.

Regarding the possibility of the match going into extra time or a penalty shootout, the U22 Vietnam center-back confirmed the team is ready for any scenario. He affirmed: “No matter how many minutes, we will play with the highest spirit.”

The SEA Games 33 men's football final between U22 Vietnam and U22 Thailand will take place on December 18.
