Real Madrid targets a Manchester United star to solve their crisis

Real Madrid is currently facing a severe crisis, and reinforcing the team during the winter transfer window is a must.

Although Real Madrid has not fallen into a full-blown crisis, they clearly have not met expectations. The gap between them and Barcelona remains at 4 points. In an effort to turn things around, Real Madrid is reportedly considering two simultaneous approaches: boosting their squad in the transfer market and possibly changing the coaching position, amid rumors that Xabi Alonso is having conflicts with some players on the team.

Regarding transfers, Real Madrid has received positive signals from Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo. The English player is currently having a tough season at Old Trafford, having not started any Premier League matches this season.

According to sources from Spain, Barcelona is also very eager to sign Mainoo, with the Catalan club’s president openly showing interest. However, reports confirm that Real Madrid is Mainoo’s preferred destination over their La Liga rivals.

Nevertheless, Real Madrid is still in the “market research” phase and has not made a final decision on whether to officially pursue this transfer in the winter window.

Alongside the decision to sign Mainoo, Real Madrid’s management is also considering Xabi Alonso’s future. Although they are currently second in La Liga and have won 4 out of 6 matches in the Champions League, Los Blancos’ board is reportedly not fully satisfied with Alonso’s performance, especially since he lacks full support from the dressing room.

Alonso has received a very clear message: he must not lose any of the next three games if he wants to keep his position. The upcoming challenges for Real Madrid include an away match against Alaves, a Copa del Rey game versus third-tier Talavera, and a home fixture against Sevilla.

These opponents are not very strong, so any slip-up could lead Real Madrid to consider a replacement, although the most mentioned candidate, Jurgen Klopp, is currently unlikely to accept the role. Red Bull’s sporting director, Oliver Mintzlaff, once stated: “He has clearly said that he does not want to be a coach right now.”.

If Xabi Alonso is dismissed, Real Madrid Castilla’s coach, Alvaro Arbeloa, is considered the top candidate to replace him, according to Cadena SER. Currently, Castilla is third in the Primera Federación.
