Latest update from the WTT Hong Kong Finals! The women's singles champion has been decided, with Wang Manyu defeating Kuai Man 4-2 to claim the title!

On December 14th Beijing time, the WTT Hong Kong Finals women's singles final commenced, pitting two leading Chinese table tennis stars Wang Manyu and Kuai Man against each other. After a fierce contest, Wang Manyu proved stronger and won 4-2 over Kuai Man in six challenging games, securing her championship defense!

Wang Manyu is ranked second in the world and has been in good form this season, winning the Asian Cup, the Chinese Grand Slam, and the National Games women's singles titles. Entering this event as the defending champion, she advanced impressively, sweeping teammate Chen Yi 4-0 in the semifinals to reach the final once again. Her opponent in the final was Kuai Man, who has risen to become a key player in the Chinese team and ranks fourth in the world. Although Kuai Man’s strength still lags behind Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu, she notably defeated Wang Manyu at this year’s Macau World Cup!

The match began with a tight first game, where Wang Manyu accelerated in the later stages to pull ahead and secured four game points, winning 11-7 to take the lead. In the second game, Kuai Man trailed 3-8 but launched an 8-0 scoring run to reverse the score and win 11-8, leveling the match. In the third game, Wang Manyu led 5-2, but Kuai Man fought back to 8-all before Wang Manyu scored three consecutive points to win 14-8. The fourth game saw Wang Manyu lead 5-1, then she earned three game points and steadily closed it out 11-8, moving ahead 3-1 and gaining a match point. In the fifth game, Kuai Man fell behind 2-6 but mounted a fierce comeback, overturning a 7-9 deficit by winning four straight points to take it 11-9. In the sixth game, Wang Manyu again built a 5-2 lead, with Kuai Man chasing hard and catching up. Despite saving two match points at 8-10, Kuai Man eventually lost 10-12, handing Wang Manyu a tough 4-2 victory and a successful title defense!

From this match, both players fought intensely. Kuai Man showed incredible resilience, often starting behind but repeatedly catching up to cause significant trouble for Wang Manyu. Though she was defeated, her performance was commendable. Congratulations to Wang Manyu for winning the championship and becoming the only Chinese player to claim a title at this finals!
