Maresca admitted he has just endured the 'worst 48 hours' at Chelsea

In an interview with TNT Sports, coach Enzo Maresca stated that he has just gone through the "worst 48 hours" since joining Stamford Bridge following the victory over Everton.

Chelsea finally regained their winning streak after defeating Everton convincingly right at their home ground, Stamford Bridge. This win was extremely significant as it ended Chelsea's recent poor run of form and helped improve their position on the league table. Previously, the London club went through a crisis period with disappointing results including two losses to Leeds United and Atalanta, as well as a draw against Bournemouth.

Defeating Everton was a relief for both Everton and Maresca himself. Therefore, instead of celebrating, the 45-year-old coach appeared quite frustrated during the post-match press conference.

When asked about Malo Gusto’s impressive performance, the scorer of the second goal, coach Enzo Maresca surprisingly used this opportunity to open up about the intense pressure he has recently faced: "This is why I must give special praise to the players. Despite countless difficulties and a very stressful week, they still performed excellently. Since I joined the club, these last 48 hours have been the worst. Many have turned against us. So, I’m very happy for Malo. His effort and the whole team’s effort prove that Chelsea players always stand united, support each other, and are eager to give their best for this club."

When reporters pressed further about the implication of his statement, Enzo Maresca explained: "Things have been tough because many people did not support me and the team. But I’m speaking generally. I love the fans and truly appreciate them.

In this match, Cole Palmer also scored for Chelsea. It was his first goal since September after a period of injury. The English midfielder received much praise from Maresca: "We dropped points last week, so this win against Everton is very important. I’m very happy for Cole Palmer scoring. As I have said many times, we are a better team when he is in the lineup. But I also want to commend all the players because we have had a very congested schedule. We played 5 matches without Moi Caicedo, 11 without Cole, and almost all games lacking Liam Delap.
