Vietnam's women's futsal team holds steady at 11th worldwide and within the top 5 in Asia according to the latest FIFA rankings.
While the Vietnamese men's futsal team achieved a milestone by climbing 6 spots to 20th in the world—the highest ranking in their history, the women's futsal team continues to preserve their stable position on the global leaderboard. Specifically, under coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng, they keep their 11th world ranking and 5th place in Asia.
The unchanged ranking is because the women's team did not participate in any official matches that counted for points between the two FIFA futsal ranking updates. However, this situation will soon change: Vietnam's women's futsal team's important 3-1 win over Indonesia in the opening match of SEA Games 33 will be reviewed and points will be added in the next ranking update. This is a positive sign showing the team's effort to improve their score and affirm their standing in the region.
On the morning of December 13th, in Nonthaburi, Thailand, Deputy Director of Vietnam's Department of Sports and Physical Training and Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation at SEA Games 33, Nguyễn Hồng Minh, visited and encouraged the women's futsal team.
During the meeting, Head of the Vietnam Sports Delegation Nguyễn Hồng Minh acknowledged and praised the team's effort and determination in their 3-1 victory over Indonesia's women's futsal team in the SEA Games 33 opening match. He highly appreciated their serious preparation, team spirit, and competitive resilience, which helped the team start strong in their quest for medals.
Head of delegation Nguyễn Hồng Minh also shared encouragement to the coaching staff and athletes to maintain focus, build on their strengths shown in the opening match, and quickly refine their skills aiming for the best possible results in upcoming games.
On behalf of the team, Team Leader Bùi Thị Hiền Lương and Head Coach Nguyễn Đình Hoàng expressed gratitude for the timely support and encouragement from the leaders of Vietnam's Department of Sports and the Vietnam Sports Delegation. This encouragement is a vital motivation for the team to gain confidence and determination for better performances in the upcoming SEA Games 33 matches.
