Ahead of the 16th round of the Premier League, coach Arteta reaffirmed his resolve with the Gunners to secure strong results in order to win the league after a long period of anticipation.
Speaking to the press, coach Mikel Arteta stated that his players are ready to give their all from the first whistle in the home match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Emirates Stadium, with the primary goal of earning all 3 points.
He said: “I know the Wolves coach very well. He will push and prepare his players to try to surprise Arsenal. Therefore, we will put in maximum effort from the first minute and we know exactly what we need to do. Ultimately, to win the title, you probably need to reach over 90 points. That means winning many matches and securing the 3 points that we must get.”
Five months into the season, Arsenal still leads the Premier League, topping the table in the Champions League and has reached the quarter-finals of the League Cup. Arteta is pleased with the current standing but emphasizes that praise is premature and the final outcome will be decided in May next year.
The Spanish manager’s viewpoint is as follows: "We are in a very strong position in all three competitions we are participating in so far, and that is something we must maintain until the end of the season. True recognition only comes when the season finishes — that is when we know exactly what has been achieved. To win trophies, you have to accomplish small goals every day. At this point, I believe we are in a very good place.”
Besides that, Arteta is also very cautious about Man City: "Looking at the standings, there are many teams competing in the race for the 2025/26 Premier League title. That is something Arsenal must always be careful about. In fact, we are well aware of the situations at other clubs. Man City has a quality and experienced squad.
This club is a title contender every season, with many teams chasing the top two, but we need to focus on our own performances and Arsenal must keep improving. That is the only way for Arsenal to be crowned champions in this competition.”
