The men's futsal team has departed for SEA Games 33, with their primary goal being to reach the final match.

The Vietnam futsal team departed for Thailand this morning, December 13th, to compete in SEA Games 33. Coach Diego Giustozzi’s squad are the last among the four Vietnamese football teams participating in football and futsal events at this Southeast Asian Games.

According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), prior to departure, Coach Diego Giustozzi announced the official roster of 14 players for the Vietnam futsal team in line with the SEA Games 33 men's futsal regulations.

Six players who are not listed in the competition registration will stay behind to continue training with their clubs and support their teammates remotely; these include goalkeeper Lưu Thanh Bảo, wingers Nguyễn Tiến Hùng, Nguyễn Hoàng Quân, Trần Thái Huy, Châu Đoàn Phát, and pivot Nguyễn Văn Tuấn.

SEA Games 33 men's futsal features five teams: Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Myanmar, competing in a single round-robin format to accumulate points and determine final rankings.

According to the schedule, the Vietnam futsal team faces a major challenge by playing four matches consecutively over four days. Specifically, they start against Malaysia on December 16th, then face Indonesia, Thailand, and Myanmar on December 17th, 18th, and 19th respectively.

Commenting on the intense schedule and competitive nature of the tournament, Coach Diego Giustozzi stressed: "With the single round-robin format, every upcoming match is like a final, and no mistakes are allowed. The opening game against Malaysia is the most important since they have been rapidly progressing and are closing the gap with us. The team must concentrate fully on each match."

The Vietnam futsal team enters SEA Games 33with the goal of reaching the top two teams, thereby continuing to strengthen Vietnam’s futsal position in the regional sports arena.
