The unexpected delay of Round 10 in the Saudi Pro League has caused Cristiano Ronaldo to miss his scheduled comeback for Al Nassr, requiring the Portuguese star to wait further before competing in official games again.
Cristiano Ronaldo's 2025/26 season was already disrupted by the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, which started in early December and will conclude before the holiday break. However, the Portuguese superstar now faces an even longer wait to return to official matches with Al Nassr after the Saudi Pro League unexpectedly announced a postponement of its restart date.
Since the Saudi Arabian national team is participating in the aforementioned tournament, many players from the Saudi Pro League have been called up, forcing the organizers to pause the league to avoid personnel conflicts. Nevertheless, the latest decision by the league organizers means fans must remain patient before witnessing Ronaldo's return to competitive play.
On 12/12, the Saudi Pro League confirmed that all matches in Round 10 of the 2025/26 season will be postponed. Originally scheduled from December 19 to 21, these fixtures are now rescheduled to take place between February 22 and 25.
In their announcement, the organizers stated that clubs had been warned “about the possibility of postponement if the Saudi national team qualifies for the Arab Cup semifinals.” After Saudi Arabia's 2–1 victory over Palestine in the quarterfinals earlier this week, the team secured a semifinal spot, triggering the decision to delay the schedule: “The league reaffirms its commitment to adjusting the calendar in line with the national team's progress while ensuring the best competitive conditions for clubs,” read part of the Saudi Pro League’s statement. The postponement of the Round 10 match against Al Najma means Ronaldo’s official comeback will be further delayed.
During this rare mid-season break, Cristiano Ronaldo has maintained his fitness by playing in friendly matches. On the 10th, he returned to the field and scored in Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Wahda, yet his official return to competitive matches remains pending.
According to the schedule, Al Nassr’s next official game is against Al Zawraa on December 24 in the AFC Champions League Two. However, since Ronaldo is not registered to play in this tournament this season, it is likely he will return on December 27 when Al Nassr hosts Al Okhdood in Round 11 of the Saudi Pro League. Currently, Ronaldo’s team leads the standings with a perfect 27 points from 27 matches, and the entire squad is determined to extend their impressive form.
With nearly two weeks off between the last friendly and the upcoming official match, Al Nassr needs to maintain their competitive rhythm during this waiting period. In fact, coach Jorge Jesus is reportedly seeking another friendly next week to finalize preparations, with Ronaldo expected to participate as he did in the previous game.
