Manchester United's rising star is at odds with Amrabat and is 99% likely to leave! Napoli is the frontrunner, with Tottenham joining the race.

Italy's La Repubblica reports that Napoli wants to secure Manchester United's Kobbie Meno right after the transfer window opens, through a loan agreement. The Italian press states the 20-year-old English midfielder's move is almost certain, with a 99% probability.

Journalist Luca Cherchione said over the weekend that he spoke with a close associate of Napoli’s assistant coach Cristian Stellini, who is confident that Meno’s transfer is progressing well and is nearly finalized.

He stated: "In recent days, I received a call from a friend of Stellini, who told me that the transfer of Meno is accelerating rapidly, even mentioning a near 99% certainty. Of course, the person sharing this rumor did not claim Stellini as the source."

Italian media further added that Napoli's chances of signing Meno from Manchester United are higher than those for bringing in Lorenzo Pellegrini. "They even ruled out Pellegrini wearing the sky-blue jersey due to financial reasons."

Amrabat clearly dislikes Meno, preferring Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro in a 3-4-3 midfield setup, while Mason Mount is also favored over Meno in attack. The young English international is likely to only make brief substitute appearances. Meno’s contract with Manchester United runs until 2027, with an option to extend for a year, but his demand for a £200,000 weekly wage has stalled renewal talks for over a year, now on hold. If nothing changes, Meno could transfer in 2026, allowing Manchester United to secure the highest fee.

Besides Napoli, Bundesliga club Bayern Munich is also interested in Meno, and Premier League side Tottenham are keen to sign him as well. Rumors suggest Meno prefers to stay in the Premier League, and Tottenham have been closely monitoring the situation.

Laurie Whitley, a well-known expert from Athletic, predicted that Meno’s future will directly impact Manchester United’s winter transfer window. When asked about Meno’s relationship with head coach Ralf Amrabat, he bluntly replied: "Amrabat and Meno? No. But I believe no final decision will be made before the Africa Cup of Nations ends. Manchester United will assess the situation, although the player might want to start playing sooner. This is a club-driven transfer, and the picture will become clearer after mid-January. Napoli showed interest in Meno during the summer window, and if he leaves Manchester United, I feel he’d prefer to go abroad."

Regarding how things might unfold, he responded: "I don’t think Manchester United will make any major moves in January; it’s not their target, and I don’t see plans for it now. If a very attractive opportunity arises, they might complete a deal earlier than planned for next summer. They won’t sign players cheaply just to strengthen the squad for the second half of the season, but if Meno is loaned out, they might need to find a replacement."

Whitley added: "Next summer is the best time for Manchester United to achieve their long-term goals, both in terms of price and contract conditions. Also, by then, they will have a clearer understanding of their situation, since January remains uncertain, especially regarding European competition next season."

Regarding midfielders Manchester United is interested in, Athletic states: "Elliott Anderson has already played European matches this season with Nottingham Forest and would definitely want to join a Champions League club if he transfers. Adam Walton is in a similar position and seems likely to move to a Champions League team next. Bissouma has had a tough season; I’m not sure how much Manchester United’s interest has distracted him. Based on his first two years at Brighton, he could transfer to a top club like Caicedo. These are the three most frequently mentioned names. If Manchester United really picks two, it would be interesting because it would also bring considerable changes to the backup squad."
