Rasmus Hojlund mentioned that the coaching team under Antonio Conte at Napoli enhanced his runs in the box, which contributed to his crucial two goals in the victory over Juventus.
Becoming the hero at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium, Hojlund ended a two-month goal drought with an explosive performance. He scored in both halves, leading Napoli to a 2-1 win over Juventus, with Kenan Yildiz netting a temporary equalizer in between.
After the match, Hojlund told DAZN Italia: “Sometimes strikers don’t score, and I always try to help the team in various ways. I understand the coach wants me to hold up the ball well, push the team higher up, apply pressure, and maintain the team’s cohesion. Tonight’s two goals are thanks to my teammates, the coach, and the coaching staff.”
For the first goal, Hojlund thanked David Neres, who assisted him, but also gestured towards Napoli’s coaching staff. When asked if that was a rehearsed play, Hojlund explained: “Gianluca and his assistants discussed a lot with me about how to move inside the box. Previously, I usually positioned myself at the far post, but they said the space was actually near the near post. I attacked the near post more often, and it worked.”
Hojlund is currently playing for Napoli on loan from Manchester United with an option to buy outright, which could become an obligation if certain conditions are met. He also revealed his desire for a long-term commitment: “Next season, I will do interviews in Italian.”
Napoli is facing a midfield crisis, forcing Antonio Conte to switch to a 3-4-2-1 system, with Neres and Noa Lang playing behind Hojlund. However, this adjustment proved effective, helping Napoli win all seven of their recent encounters against Juventus at the Maradona stadium.
Captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo also praised the team and Hojlund: “We continued to deliver a high-intensity match, good pace, and open play. That’s the team’s identity. I’m happy for Hojlund; he scored twice and fights hard every game. In tough moments, we responded strongly, showing the spirit of a great team.”
