Pirates are heavy favorites but have only won one out of nine finals in this tournament before, which includes surprising losses to Platinum Stars in 2013 and Baroka in 2018.

“I believe the team is preparing well,” Sibisi stated. “The players are sharp. We understand this cup has eluded us for quite a while, but we are really eager to compete on Saturday.

“We know the challenge ahead—Marumo Gallants are a strong side—but the players feel quite confident.”

Sibisi also commended the impact of coach Abdeslam Ouaddou in his first season at the club, having already secured the MTN8 trophy.

“Having worked with the coach for a few months now, you can tell he was a defender during his playing career,” Sibisi mentioned. “He emphasizes the importance of keeping clean sheets, and as they say, defenders win championships.

“For us, maintaining clean sheets is crucial, and we know whenever we start a match, a goal is guaranteed, whether it comes from the bench or the starting eleven.”

Pirates have attracted large crowds this season, having already won a trophy and currently leading the Betway Premiership table; their only setback was an early exit from the CAF Champions League, marking an otherwise flawless start to the campaign.

“Playing in packed stadiums is a unique experience. Almost every week we have full stands, and having our 12th man there always motivates us.

“With the festive season and the spirit of giving, we want to dedicate this one to the fans. If we win, it will be our gift to them.”

The Pirates squad is large with several notable players on the bench, but Sibisi doesn’t see this as a problem.

“I don’t think it has caused any issues. We started the league with two defeats, and that was when our character was tested. Could we bounce back?” he explained.

“I think the players showed great character, and you can see that whoever plays, they give their all, no matter their role. Everyone who gets an opportunity seizes it, and it’s up to the coach to decide.

“This really reflects the strength of the group’s character. It’s something we hold onto because we understood our goals and trusted the process.

“Now we are beginning to see the benefits of that process. Even though it’s only halfway through the season, we are about to play our second final with this coach, which shows the hard work from the technical team and players.”
